Biosecurity and the health of our birds is very important to us. We ask that you leave your barn boots at home when you visit us to decrease the chance of spreading disease. We will no longer allow people into our “chicken room” but you are welcome to observe the chicks through the window.
Whether you are a future chicken owner, a first-timer, or an experienced chicken owner, we encourage you to check out these resources to keep your birds safe. Avian flu is highly contagious with a high mortality rate, and has shown the ability to jump to different species. It is the responsibility of all bird owners to protect their flocks.

If you suspect that your flock has contracted avian flu, please call Maine’s Department of Animal Health at 207-287-3701 ASAP. The Department may want to test for the presence of disease, and will give you guidance on what to do next.
