CHICK UPDATE
Thursday, April 17th

AS OF 11 AM APRIL 17TH Latest – intel tells us that the chicks may arrive in time for our 8am opening on Friday, April 18th! It’s a fluid situation, dictated by shipping, and totally out of our control. When we know, we’ll try our best to let you know too. For the most current updates, give us a call at
282-2998, OPTION 4 or watch our Facebook page.

IT’S TIME FOR THE SECOND BATCH OF CHICKS…
and here are the details!

We expect chicks to arrive at the end of this week. They should be available starting Friday morning. Please be aware that chicks arrive in the mail, and weather can delay shipment. Before you come to the store, check our Facebook page for confirmation (link below) or call us and listen to the Chick Message (option 4.) Yes, you may email us, but please be aware that during busy season, it takes a while for us to get back to you!

KEEP READING…you’ll want to know this…

Because of concerns about avian flu, we have had to put biosecurity measures in place. Here’s the short version:

* ONLY EMPLOYEES are allowed in our chicken room. Sorry, no exceptions. We will bring the chicks out to you in a “chick box.”

* If we have a lot of people arriving at the same time, we’ll hand out numbers. We will not be taking orders or holds over the phone. While you’re waiting, we’ll ask you to…

* …sign a release form and provide your name, address, and phone number. THIS INFORMATION IS PROVIDED TO THE STATE OF MAINE. If you don’t wish to do so, you are welcome to buy chicks elsewhere. Yes, avian flu and biosecurity are serious matters, and we intend to do our part to keep poultry safe.

* Chickens are not returnable. The hatchery is 90-95% accurate in assessing sex, so it is possible that you may get a rooster. We cannot take birds back because of biosecurity concerns. We will not accept chickens of any age or any sex from anyone.

* Please leave your barn boots at home. Avian flu and other highly contagious diseases can be carried on footwear. It isn’t really feasible for us to provide a footbath, so we ask your assistance in keeping your facilities…and ours…safe and disease free.

* Please feel free to call us if you have questions or concerns!

COMPOST AND MULCHES ARE HERE!

We feature Benson Farm compost in bags and by the yard. We also have dark and red mulch by the yard, and natural, dark and red mulch in bags. Onion sets are here…red, white, and yellow…and seed potatoes should arrive the week after Easter. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates. The greenhouse will be stocked before Mother’s Day with gorgeous hanging baskets and herbs, with cool weather crops to follow.
